Greater Kruger

Recommended accommodations

One of the first in African conservation, South Africa set aside a portion of land approximately the same size as Wales to protect its wildlife. With one of the greatest diversities of flora and fauna, it is one of the top spots for wildlife viewing. With large populations of the big 5, it is a big hit with first-timers eager to tick off the bigger mammals on safari.

They also have a large pride of white lions which draw in big crowds, eager to see these unique color variations. However, for those who wish the same experience without the crowds, the surrounding concessions make an excellent choice. With limited numbers of camps and vehicles per sighting yet no fences between them and the park the game, they often have better wildlife viewing and can extend their night drives beyond sunset for further opportunity of seeing the nocturnal animals in action.
