Built in 1951 this camp has a rich history in one of the first protected areas of the park. Subsequently sightings are frequent and the animals are not skittish. If you are looking for some good close up photos this is the place to base yourself. Robin Pope took over this camp over 20 years ago and put his mark on the place; great food, great guiding and comfortable rooms in an excellent area of the park. Nsefu delivers the high standard you expect from Robin Pope.

Exclusive to Nsefu Camp, you can start your game drive at 05.00, before the sun comes up and venture into the park in darkness. This is a great time for predator activity and to see the nocturnal animals returning home. You will have a full cooked breakfast in the bush and continue the drive.
A sunrise safari is a unique activity and perfect for those looking to get out early for chances of seeing Aardvark, honey badger, pangolin and all the others that make up the list of elusive species! Enjoying a cup of coffee and some eggs and bacon with thick slices of bread toasted fresh on a fire as you watch hippos return to the river! Magic!
It was decided when RPS took over the camp that the 6 original rondavels must stay and would become protected architecture. They added larger en-suite bathrooms out the back with flushing toilets and large walk in showers and an added breeze bed system, which is a welcome addition in the hotter months. They have transformed the smaller basic rondavels into the luxury you would expect from an RPS camp.
Nsefu is one of few camps with a hide within its grounds, it overlooks a man-made lagoon which attracts excellent birdlife and lots of game. Expect to see wallowing warthog, elephants looking to drink and bathe and the occasional cat! if you don’t want to miss any of the action when you’re not on game activities this is the place to be. Don’t forget your camera!
