Lodge Key Features

Breath-taking Views

Both the lodges (as they are on the same spot) are renowned for the incredible views. You could be sat by the pool, enjoying a morning coffee on your veranda or having a drink in the main area just as the sun is setting, sat right near the cliff top and offering panoramic views. Wherever you look you will be left speechless by the stunning scenes around you. The Gorge and the river below; a magical place and one of the best settings you will find in Africa.

Sun Rises

Each of the rooms and the main area get the most glorious views of the sun rising. The chalets are perfectly perched on the edge of the Gorge and face the sunrise, your private balcony is the best spot in the whole of the lodge to enjoy this exquisite spectacle. This is by far the best and only way to start your day here right, make yourself a cup of coffee and relax in the day bed, listen to the natural surrounds and watch as a new day starts.

Birding

Even if you aren’t into bird watching…you may just become one after leaving here. Due to the location and its incredible viewpoint this is the perfect spot to enjoy an array of birds. The cliffs below provide nesting sites so you will often see a number of birds through the day here; raptors, falcons, swifts and martins to name a few; feasting on what is around and usually catching the insects that are brought up from the airflow of the Gorge. The lodge gardens are also home to a number of smaller wildlife and the eagles have a nest near-by and hunt daily on these creatures.

    Had a wonderful time at this hidden gem outside of Vic Falls. Great service and attentive staff. No helicopters just quiet and peaceful. Good food. Had a great driver (Conrad) who took us into a village and into town. Went out of his way to find croc sauce. . The lodge is like an escape from the hustle and bustle of town – just what we needed. Room was large, clean bathroom nice. Added touch was laundry service !

  • A peaceful adventure with a spectacular view

    On our trip to South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe we had the pleasure to stay a couple of nights at Gorges Lodge in a one of the chalets with a view over Zambezi river.
    During our stay we appreciated the surrounding gardens, the calm and peaceful landscape with the sounds from the birds and the river.
    The staff gave us the perfect experience and a splendid treatment.

  • What a fantastic location

    Your breath gets taken away when you first see the views from the hotel. Our room which was very well equipped was perched on the edge of the cliff and it was great to just sit and take in the sights.
    The staff are very friendly, smiling all the time and are happy to help. Don’t miss Chris the managers eagle show which is really informative.
