Overlooking the riverbed, not only is the lodge 8km from the famous Hwange National Park but 200km is Vic Falls; opportunity to see two of Africa’s spectacles.

Why we love Sable Sands!

On a private concession just outside the park, this is a stunning location that often has lion vs buffalo encounters; lions killed a buffalo on the vlei in front of the lodge. MC the manager is a great guy and always happy to go the extra mile. Food was very good. Great new vehicles and all in all a good value product.

Client Reviews

  • We really loved this place

Imagine a very very big heard of buffaloes right outside your roundovel early in the morning before sunrise and the noice from that heard. Imagine a heard of elephants taking a mud bath about 75 meters from your roundovel. Imagine a heard of sables approaching you when sitting outside your roundovel. This and much much more was Sable Sands for us. During our daily safari tours we saw lots of animals, among them wild dogs, tsessebes, giraffes, many elephants, many sables, roans, reedbucks, duikers and many others. The food was very good and the staff was wonderful.

  • Right in amongst the wildlife

We were made so welcome here. Brian was an excellent host, always making time to talk to us. His wife was away. The staff were excellent, obviously well trained but also genuinely charming people. Munya (spelling?) the safari guide was so knowledgeable and always wanting to give us the best experience based on what we were looking for. The food was excellent too and the rooms were large and very comfortable.

  • Safari / road trip

Overlooking a beautiful valley full of wildlife well kept cabins surround a straw roofed restaurant. Brian, Marleen and their staff really make you feel at home. Food is great. The bed is excellent. Game drives are included and quite an experience. The place is pure but very comfortable, luxury without being posh. They arrange transport from Victoria Falls Airport.
Lonely Planet voted Zimbabwe nr 3 top destination in 2019 so go now before it gets crowded.
