Somalisa Expeditions has an incredibly relaxed and back to basics safari feel. Unlike its more luxurious sister camps it offers a traditional safari experience and has a far more intimate bush camp feel to it. The service is impeccable, and the hosts treat guests like family. The rooms are styled beautifully, basic and cosy with all you need and the en-suite bathrooms have both a shower and bath. You will fall in love with this wonderful location, if you enjoy rustic comfort then this is the place you want to be.

Traditional Safari Experience

If you love nothing more than being in the bush, close to the wild and enjoy a traditional safari, that is exactly what Somalisa Expeditions offer its guests. The safari tents blend in well with the surroundings, a mix of wooden floors, canvased walls and netted windows, which offer incredible views from every angle. The decor is basic but tasteful and too works well with the setting you are in, rustic and natural. The whole camp is a safari heaven, traditional comfort at its best.

Hosts

The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The hosts in particular are attentive to every need of their guests. The atmosphere in camp is relaxed and this is evident through the hosts, they want you to feel at home and enjoy your safari experience in every way, from start to finish. They are happy to enjoy time getting to know the guests and will share a good story or two of their experiences in the bush too.

  • Somalisa Expeditions best safari esperience out of 4!

    Woderfully furnitured, straight from “Out of Africa”, teak floors, outdoor toilet, shower( under roof from tent extension. Electrical lighting, plugs, fan courtesy of solar power worked 24/7, Mosquito. netting that was draped around the bed, as in most places, every evening when I was at supper. Lovely cool, fresh, clean , crisp linens, and crispy airdried towels. All delightful.

  • EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE

    This camp was a complete surprise, as we had expected to stay at Somalisa Expeditions tented camp but instead were taken to the main camp, which is a beautiful tented camp. We do not know who upgraded us, but we would like to thank them very much. We arrived in the early evening and, once again, were greeted by elephants which came to drink from the waterhole in front of the camp. The rooms were large, with plenty of hanging space, sitting area, safe, and, extremely welcome in the cold winter evenings, a log-burning fire which was lit for us every evening.

  • This is not a camp…this is sooooo much more than a camp!

    I took a group of 8 to this camp ourselves and three of our adult children with wives/partners. None of us came away disappointed and this was the 5th set of safaris I had been on and the 15th camp. 5 of us had never been to Africa before so we got to relive the wonder of the all new experience as well. So: Accommodation. They have three levels of accommodation in 3 associated camps, Somalisa is top end. The tents have brick walls in them! The copper baths are to die for..the views are great.
