Zambezi Sands River Camp

Zambezi Sands River Camp sits right on the edge of the Zambezi River, in a wilderness in the Zambezi National Park. An hour and a half from the infamous Victoria Falls, this camp offers your traditional safari activities which include exciting water-based activities, and, of course trips to the Falls. The luxury tents ooze a safari feel in the decor, set on stilts and connected by raised wooden walkways, elevated what feels like you are sitting above the water 9in some months you even are). Each tent offers panoramic views of the Zambezi and you can wallow in your very own little plunge pool which is so welcoming in those warmer months.

During those warm months there is nothing better than hopping into your own private plunge pool on your deck where you can enjoy those all-important private intimate moments, all whilst overlooking the Zambezi River. You may even catch a glimpse of elephant who wander the banks and bath in the river. The birdlife around is plentiful and there are also a number of other wildlife that frequent the banks. The perfect spot to enjoy some downtime and wildlife all in one afternoon.

Activities

With location of the Zambezi Sands there is a lot on offer to its guests. Although most will come to enjoy the wild surroundings and to be further from the busy Victoria Falls itself, there is still so much to enjoy when here. Not only can you head out on game drives and walking safaris, but as the river is on your door step you can enjoy canoeing safaris and fishing excursions too. While not a huge amount of big game around there is still lots to enjoy and see and this place is really about being in a natural setting, with enough to keep you busy and entertained if you wish.

Sunsets on the River

This place really is all about the gorgeous location and setting, the wilderness all around you and the river on your doorstep. What better way to enjoy an African sunset than heading out onto the water? Enjoy a peaceful cruise along the Zambezi River, in and amongst the islands that sit near the lodge. Drinks and snacks are provided which is a lovely treat. So…sit back, unwind and watch as another spectacular day comes to a close in this peaceful and serene location.

Client Reviews

  • Paradise On The Zambezi

My family and I were fortunate enough to spend a couple of nights at Zambezi Sands in April and it is magnificent: luxury tents right on the banks of the river where you can relax and watch Cormorants fishing for hours, great food, plenty of gin, and hugely welcoming and hospitable staff. A real credit to Zimbabwean tourism.

  • The Ultimate African Retreat

Lots of people go to Africa for the safari experience but after spending a total of 6 months traveling the continent I can highly recommend a combination of both safari and non-safari experiences. The Zambezi Sands River Camp is the perfect property for this and the perfect place to end your safari in Hwange National Park during a visit to Zimbabwe.

This facility is located on the Zambezi River inside the National Park. The “TENTS” are amazing – spacious and well put together. The staff is fantastic and are always concerned about your comfort. The guides know all the areas to see some amazing game. The food is great and they do love to feed you.
