Chindeni has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment. They have done a wonderful job, it is both elegant and modern. The camp overlooks an oxbow lagoon, which is packed with wildlife and birdlife, which you can view from the split-level decking in the main area. Whereby, you can also enjoy alfresco lunches and star lit dinners. The four tents are on raised wooden platforms, which are both stylish and comfortable.
The views of the Nchindeni hills across the lagoon, along with the excellent guiding, as well as the epic bird-watching.

With an abundance of habitats around the lodge, including the lagoon, it is an absolute haven for birds. Twitchers’ at the ready, grab your binos and settle into a deck chair as the wildlife comes to you!
The lagoon itself hosts a huge amount of water birds so settle in and commence counting them off your tick list! Coupled with the nearby woodlands, this is the spot to settle into and enjoy many colourful feathered friends!
After the refurb, Chindeni is a very modern bush camp, whilst this may not appeal to everyone and some prefer a more traditional rustic camp we love the simplistic luxury at Chindeni. Clean lines and comfort are at the top of the agenda.
They pair great food and guiding without any of the excesses. There are sunbeds next to the rooms and kikoys and bathrobes to use during your stay. They have considered every detail to make your stay as pleasant as can be.
The camp is around three hours’ drive from the Mfuwe gate. You are well within the park and away from the crowds. We were really impressed with the sightings around the camp and loved that we didn’t see many other vehicles in the area whilst on our activities.
Sleeping under the stars in a canvas tent always invokes a sense of adventure but Chindeni manages to do all this without loosing any of the comfort. From walking safaris to night drives, they have every possible activity to make the most of the wildlife in the area and get those crucial sightings. Due to the diverse habitat around the camp you often don’t have to leave to start your game viewing, which only adds to the excitement of staying here!
Thanks for a lovely few days . Peter did a great job hosting and guiding despite being really unwell, he kept soldiering on despite being told repeatedly to go to bed ! Vernon and the kitchen staff and other boys were very hard working and helpful too . Aubrey was a good help carrying water etc on the bushwalks and trying to rescue me from the horrid Mopane bees. A lovely location on the lagoon.
I have spent 6 days in 3 camps of The Bushcamp Company and it has been amazing. The camps are all very small (3 or 4 tents/cottages) and offer a similar high standard of services, however each camp has its own personality and unique location making it impossible to say which one is better. We loved all 3! Chindeni will be remembered for its stunning lagoon in front of the tents (even saw a leopard hunt in front of our tent!), the fantastic morning walking safaris along the river and lagoon. We also loved the tents, very spacious and comfortable.
After spending a few nights at a bigger and busier lodge, it was a relief to know that we were going to be at a much smaller camp which was deeper into the bush. However, the Chindeni experience went far beyond my expectations. The first hint of things to come is when you spot the lagoon, and then as you look further into the distance, you see the tents. Then there is the welcome from the staff- so genuinely friendly and effortless.
Chindeni was the second of the four camps of the Bushcamp Company we visited. It is our favorite Camp. It offers a real bush feeling and you feel at once at home. Everything was great: the tent, the staff, the food and the guiding. One of the highlights was the lunch in a river. It was fantastic to sit on a chair in the shallow water with great food on the table and to have much fun with the other people including Andy Hogg the owner of the Bushcamp Company. The walking-safari was another highlight.
