Why we love Situ Island Resort!

Another hidden gem just off the coast of Pemba. Situ is about an hour’s boat ride from the mainland and amongst some fantastic fishing and diving spots. Their boats and their diving and fishing equipment are very good and well maintained. Craig and Tess are such good people and fantastic managers too. It is very obvious how well they treat their staff and how respected they are, they are one big happy family. The food was world class too and it is evident that Craig is extremely passionate about the food…delicious cuisine. This spot is awesome and great value, it should definitely be in your Mozambique itinerary.

Natural Beauty

If you wish to enjoy the peace and quiet and get away from busy every-day life, this is the place to be. Take a walk along the beach and when the tide is all the way out you will be amazed at the treasures you will find washed up. Once the tide is in you can enjoy a snorkel around the area which is teaming with colourful, tropical and friendly fish. Why not head out on a kayak into the mangroves, the natural bush flourishes with incredible bird-life, and if you head out during high tide you can get a gorgeous view of what lies beneath the crystal-clear waters.

Fishing

If you are an avid angler, then this is one spot you need to head to. It is a way of life on this island and there are a number of species around depending on your preference. Head out deep-sea fishing and tackle the great Blue or Black Marlin, or enjoy a day on the tidal sandbanks where an array of species habitats. Even if you are an amateur, the dedicated team will be sure to take you out and experience fishing like never before.

The Chalets

All chalets are strategically placed around the main ‘club house’ and offer easy access to the beach. The rooms, simple and rustic and local bamboo has been used for the tables and cupboards and other furniture around. As a result its your ultimate ‘Robinson Crusoe’ effect, but very comfortable. Relax on your own little veranda and take in the natural surroundings.

    If you are looking for a place that has a butler serving you cocktails by your private swimming pool at your air-conditioned villa, then this lodge is not for you – please stay away! BUT if you want a non-commercial lodge for a wonderfully relaxed holiday with incredible hosts (Craig and Tess) who serve up delicious fresh 3 course dinners – (mainly seafood), mixed with honest unpretentious hospitality and a good dose of fun – then this is your home from home.

    Tessa and Craig are fantastic hosts, supported by wonderful staff: arrived as guests and departed as friends!! The atmosphere is so friendly and relaxed, and the setting magnificent. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and the food, specially prepared by Craig, is divine.
