Little Gorges

Only a 30 minute-drive from Victoria Falls, Little Gorges Tented Lodge is in prime location, far enough from the hustle and bustle of the Falls but close enough to head over for the day or even half a day and enjoy the sites. The lodge overlooks 2 rivers, the Dibu Dibu and the Zambezi and the views are spectacular. The lodge itself is built right next to its sister property, Gorges Lodge and the two share facilities. Little Gorges is smaller, so offers a far more intimate experience and if you are looking for a safari feel then this is the one to head to.

Lodge Key Features

Location

Little Gorges Lodge offers a unique and intimate experience, its perched on the edge of the Batoka Gorge in a tranquil and peaceful location. You are close enough to the incredible Falls themselves so can arrange to head over there for the day and see what the fuss is about – its quite spectacular. Or if you wish to stay away from the crowds you so get a sense of being in a secluded area where you can enjoy your safari. The best of both worlds in one of the finest locations in Africa.

Sundowners with Black Eagles

At the Lodge they offer the ‘eagle-viewing sundowners’ which is a highlight for so many that visit, especially if you are keen on birdlife. If you aren’t it is still a great way to enjoy a drink, watch as the sun goes down and capture these glorious birds of prey in their natural habitat. The area is renowned for seeing the black eagle they sore majestically above you and if you are lucky enough you make get an eye level view as they soar the updrafts that are generated by the gorge itself.

Luxury Tents with a view

The luxurious constructed tents are set in a rugged terrain and built on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, giving some of the most incredible views in Zimbabwe…maybe even Africa. With just 5 tents, this place offers intimacy to those staying here and each room is fully equipped with all you need for a relaxed and enjoyable stay. Enjoy the early morning sunrise on your private viewing deck, you look right over the Gorge and river; absolutely stunning surroundings.

Client Reviews

  • Black Eagles

This was our 2nd visit to Little Gorges (March 2019) – last time in 2016. The views were more spectacular than we remembered and, once again, we were treated to amazing views of the Black Eagles (Verreaux Eagles) flying past at eye level. We had hoped they had raised a chick since our last visit and Chris (who knows everything about wildlife!) told us that they had which was great to know. This time we took advantage of the pool which was great after our long flight. Food great, rooms clean, staff professional and helpful – all as perfect as we remembered.

  • Little Gorges – Spectacular views great place to stay

This was our initial stopover for just 1 night until we headed out on safari and what an amazing place with spectacular views. Tent was very comfortable albeit very hot at this time of the year before the rains came with temperatures being excessively high and being felt by everyone. Waking up in our tented room to see the sunrise was very special.

  • Wonderful location

This is an amazing place to stay. We stayed at Little Gorges which has 5 lovely tented accommodation overlooking a spectacular gorge.
Chris and Debbie were excellent hosts. It was great to see the eagles flying in the gorge. Chris gave us a great walk through the extensive grounds showing us the huge range of trees and birds which he was so knowledgeable about.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.
