Little Makololo Camp

This lovely little camp offers a sense of remoteness and privacy to its guests and it’s all situated in the heart of one of the best game viewing areas in Hwange National Park. The camp has 6 beautiful and spacious traditional safari tents, each with indoor and outdoor showers. Wooden walkways link each tent to the main area where guests can enjoy being wined and dined with exceptional views of the waterhole, or, relax in the lounge area where there is an open fire, appreciate an evening under the stars in remote African paradise.

Why we love Little Makololo Camp!

Another great mid-range camp in The Wilderness Concession. Slightly bigger with 9 rooms so perfect for bigger groups. An epic little watering hole just in front of camp attracts large amounts of wildlife in a fantastic part of the park. The rooms are perfect for that bush experience, overlooking the plains and watering hole. Great team and good vehicles.

Lodge Key Features

Star Bed

One of the most glorious things about being in the bush is there is little to no light pollution, making those evenings under the stars even more spectacular. At Little Makokolo a must is getting the opportunity to enjoy the star bed. Experience an evening with a loved one on the raised star bed (just a 20-minute drive from camp). It’s remote and private where you can enjoy the wilderness under a beautifully lit sky.

Safari Tents

Tastefully decorated, the safari tents offer a variety of authentic wood and brass fittings throughout the room and each have a comfortable double or twin bed. There are two large double doors that open onto your own private veranda where you can enjoy the views of the waterhole from the comfort of the safari chairs provided. The en-suite bathroom offers an indoor and outdoor shower; such a great way to relish the wildlife around after a day spent in the bush. The rooms are classy and comfortable, and you become very accustomed to the surrounds as they fit in perfectly with nature.

Main Area

Enjoy a hot drink and gather with friends around the firepit in the main area before you head off on a morning drive or once you come back from an evening drive sit an enjoy the atmosphere around with a G&T in hand, all before you sit down for a delicious dinner. In the heat of the day and just before you head off for a siesta head over to the main deck and hop into the plunge pool; all whilst over-looking the incredible views.

    The ability to spend many early and late hours each day driving around in a large private concession within Hwange gives the sense of being very far away, mostly alone, and very close to the African wildlife. It is an experience that brings to you a new sense of existence within the primal world, while concurrently being very comfortable and safe in it.

    Yes, we keep coming back! It was our 3rd visit and we are planning to return next year.
    The camp has been newly renovated and all areas are looking stunning. The new pool overlooking the 2 waterholes is wonderfully elevated to give one a better view of the game that frequent the pans.
    Rooms have a fresh new look and are comfortable as always.
    The food was outstanding, really really good !
