The Villas

The villas are all made from concrete and have all the luxuries you could wish for. Each villa has its own patio and balcony so you can relax and enjoy the bush and wild around from the comfort of the daybed. The rooms are spacious and with lots of windows not only are they kept cool but you get the incredible views from all angles. The en-suite bathrooms are stylish with a shower and bath. A lovely touch is the little cubbyhole for your morning coffee to be brought to you; wake up to the sounds of the bush and enjoy your fresh cup of tea or coffee with glorious morning views from your very own bed.

The guides at Camelthorn Lodge are professional, experienced and very personable, they really do make your time spent here one to remember. From walking safaris to game drives you will get an exciting and memorable experience. Together with their friendly approach and incredible knowledge, they are there to ensure you get exactly what you want from your time here. Authentic Experiences

The style of the lodge is unique and has an ancient Camelthorn Tree in the outdoor dining area; hence the name. Whether its dining under the tree, enjoying a morning coffee right out near the roaring fire or getting close to nature in the photography hide this incredibly unique, luxurious lodge offers something for everyone to enjoy. Along with all this and their friendly staff who make your stay very homely and memorable, you will get the full authentic African safari experience.

  • Beautiful and bespoke.

    We had the most amazing few days at Camelthorn Lodge. We arrived on the Elephant Express, a two hour train safari from Dete. It was great fun and we saw so much. The rooms at Camelthorn were all beautifully appointed and private. Very spacious with large bathrooms and outside terrace. The communal areas were well laid out, dining below the stars and sat discussing your day around the huge camp fire.

    We are experienced world travellers and have been to southern Africa in the past. Camelthorn exceeded all our expectations (even in the off season). 5 star service from every staff member and Aubz was a delight as our guide. Room was absolutely deluxe in every respect….on par with the famous Lake Elementia lodge. Delightful lounge area and super attentive service in the dining room, or candlelight al fresco under the camelthorn tree in the courtyard. We would not hesitate to recommend….or to return !
