Time + Tide Kakuli

Time + Tide Kakuli is a beautiful camp, overlooking the Luangwa River. The camp is recently refurbished, the stunning suites are huge thatched villas, which are completely exposed to the wildlife.

A welcome addition to the family villa is the addition of a second bathroom so you don’t have to share. The camp is in an area that is particularly good for wildlife viewing, both on foot and in a vehicle, with resident lions, leopards and a huge carmine bee-eater colony nearby!

Why we love Time + Tide Kakuli!

Loved the wild luxury and how open the chalets are, the outside shower, the waterhole and photography hide right in front of the deck (which attracts all sorts of spectacular wildlife), incredible food, fantastic hosts (especially Alice), brilliant guiding complimented with impressive and well kept vehicles, and of course the amazing wildlife in the area. No doubt one of the best wildlife areas in the park.

Wildlife and Photography

Norman Carr is one of the pioneers of photographic safaris, so it comes as no surprise that the camps are all based in wildlife prolific areas, where you have great opportunities to get the perfect shot. Be it of the resident lions and leopards, who have territories around camp, or the prolific bird life (over 700 species have been recorded in the area).

Open during the green season, it is one of the few, remote, bush camps you can visit within the park during that time of the year.

Walking safaris

Norman Carr is also a pioneer of the walking safari, the bush camps are perfectly set up for this. Lead by expert guides, you can discover the valleys wild terrain, by foot. If you are looking for a special walk you can make the trip to one of the sister camps either Mchenja, which is only 4km away, or if you are up for a good trek you can walk the 14km to Nsolo!

A walking safari is a really thrilling way to see the big game, monitoring their behaviour and figuring out which way is downwind! However, it is also an incredible way to learn the ways of a ranger, learning to track, recognise alarm calls, watch and identify bird movements and see some of the smaller creatures and plants in the valley!

Fine dining

After a hard day walking in the bush (or even sitting in a vehicle), is there anything better than a good meal? The dining experience is brilliant at Time + Tide Kakuli, from the incredible service to the imaginative culinary creations the chef manages to whip up in a bush kitchen! From Zambian inspired dishes and flavours to refreshing snacks and on a sundowner, your stomach and heart will be content!

  • Memorable Stay

    he property is strategically located, the rooms are beautiful and have gorgeous views, the meals are outstanding. Game viewing is super and I can definitely recommend Kakuli to any traveller searching for a memorable safari experience.

  • Great setting, especially the water hole

    Great camp, you can easily sit for hours watching the animals that come to the water hole which is only yards away from the main seating area.
    Our guide was excellent and we saw plenty of game, large groups of buffalo and elephants while driving, we also had excellent game viewing when we did a walking safari
    Accommodation is good, large tent with two showers, As with all the bush camps where we stayed food was excellent. Staff very friendly and very helpful.
    Certainly would recommend.

  • Fantastic Family Safari

    Our family of five stayed at Kakuli for 4 nights and were treated to a wonderful African experience. We were collected from the Airport by our guide Julius and scout Kamisa and taken on our first safari on the drive to the camp. The ever changing terrain as we drove deeper into the park was spectacular & the numerous animal sightings of elephant, zebra, kudo & more increased our excitement. On our arrival at camp we were met by an infectiously happy manager & staff.

  • Wonderful way to start my Safari Adventure

    This was my first Safari Experience and I was not sure what to expect! I was picked up promptly at the airport by my wonderful guide, Julius and as soon as we hit the park, animals galore! Julius even spotted a Leopard on our way to the camp! The accommodations and Hosts were superb, my luxury tent overlooking the riverbed was nothing short of great views and extreme comfort. You must have Julius take you on a walking safari, you learn so much!
