Okuti

Situated alongside the Maunachira River within the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, Okuti is built amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana’s most prized game viewing regions, the Moremi Game Reserve. With its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy river banks, it remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness. Take part in one of the land or water-based activities offered or simply enjoy relaxing in this beautiful wilderness by the pool or in your cool and spacious mosasa (ancient tribal word for house of reeds).

Why we love Okuti!

Flying from Shinde (Ker & Downey Botswana Camp in the Kalahari) straight into Okuti (also Ker & Downey Botswana) made the swapping camps so easy and with a scenic flight over the Okavango too. Okuti is in the Moremi National Park where we saw very few other vehicles/ boats. The wildlife was insane with a great wild dog encounter and much more. Okuti is a great camp, overlooking the water with incredible scenery. The Ker & Downey vehicles/boats are new and in great condition, with plenty of space for your extra, photography gear etc. and have fantastic photography arms. Great guides, tasty food, friendly staff and fantastic wildlife sightings including an epic leopard sighting.

Lodge Key Features

Location

This unique 5000 km2 wilderness offers a diverse range of habitats such as mopane woodlands and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons; a third of the reserve is mainland, while the remainder is the Okavango Delta itself. Hop on the motorboat to explore the wetlands, or head deep into the wilderness and see what you can find on morning/evening game drives, self-drives are also permitted if you have your own vehicle.

Wildlife and birds galore

This range of habitats creates the perfect environment for an impressive population of diverse birdlife (nearly 500 different species can be found here) and animals, most notably, the endangered African Wild Dog, as well as Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Brown Hyena, Spotted Hyena, African Bush Elephant, Giraffe, African Buffalo, Hippopotamus, Black Rhinoceros, White Rhinoceros, Lechwe, Tsessebe, Sitatunga, Blue Wildebeest, Nile crocodile, Springbok, Greater Kudu, Sable Antelope, Plains Zebra, Warthog and Chacma Baboon.

Mosasas

These unique safari tents are quite a spectacle with their curved roofs; built on raised wooden decks, they boast spectacular river views so your game viewing doesn’t need to end when you finish your activity, the bush is alive with activity so sit quietly and see what comes by.

  • Warm, intimate lodge in Moremi Game Reserve

We spent 3 nights at Okuti, and the great reviews for the staff and service are spot-on. It was my birthday, but I had not mentioned it but the staff baked me a cake and sang for me. They treated us to a special champagne dinner. That is top notch service. The lodge and the rooms are beautiful and just blend right into the environment.

  • Moremi Wildlife Reserve

Camp Okuti is a small camp, with the chalets facing the river. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the staff and food were truly delightful. The boat trip was a must and the safaris produced, leopard, lion, wild dogs and a whole lot more. Fabulous place to stay in the delta.
