One of the oldest concession the Sabi Sands is a private area next to Kruger. Without any fences the animals are free to roam between the park and concessions however the number of cars and lodges are limited. With a maximum of 3 cars per sighting you can guarantee uninterrupted sightings with guides obeying the rules unlike in Kruger! The animals also seem to enjoy the quieter areas with lots of the big 5 spotted in this area, particularly leopard!

Rooms

The rooms are all open facing into the bush providing views straight into the bush, with indoor and outdoor showers for full bush immersion! Each room has soft candle lit rooms, enjoy a relaxing bath with a glass of wine in hand as you listen to the animals calling at night before you retire to your large cosy bed looking out to the stars! Or sit on your own private veranda.

Family friendly

One of the few remaining family owned and run lodges in the area you instantly get a feeling of being part of on arrival. From large communal meals round the boma to friendly service and well versed guides you will soon be immersed into the Mala Mala family sharing their rich history here in the Sabi Sands.

Client Reviews

  • Can’t say enough fantastic things about Notten’s

We did 2 other safaris in Africa and Notten’s ruined us for them as Notten’s was just spectacular. Dale, the manager, is a superb host and a perfect example of leading from the top. All of the staff were so helpful and lovely. Many of them have worked there for up to 20 years. Which says a lot. The food was really, really good.

  • Fantastic stay (book well in advance)

Just remember that if you go on safari you have to get lucky with what you see. As it happens, we had some great sightings and the rangers work really hard to get you to the various sightings. Being in a lodge they can take you off road and they know how close they can get before it becomes unsafe. Apart from that, what you do have control on is the lodge you stay at and Nottens was really great. The room was very spacious, bathroom also large and lovely facilities.

  • Wonderful place

Friendly and helpful staff, superb food, delightful room.
We had four game drives during our two day stay, and what superb sightings we had. Tongue in check I asked our guide to find us a honey badger. He hadn’t seen one for several months but – hooray – our tracker found one. So, what service!
