Our classic family adventure takes you to Victoria Falls, Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa and Lake Malawi. At each destination, you will stay at accommodations which are perfect for families.
The tour begins in Victoria Falls where you will stay at Victoria Falls Hotel. When you’re not exploring the falls, you can play in the pool! From here, we take you to Potato Bush Camp in the Lower Zambezi where you will stay at the family house. We then take you to another Zambia national park, South Luangwa. You will stay in the exclusive and highly loved Robin’s House.
After exploring the bush, we take you to the beach. Two beaches of beautiful Lake Malawi to be exact. Get ready to spoil yourself on two incredible islands. You will be staying at Blue Zebra, home to an infinity pool and unbelievable food. After Blue Zebra, it’s time for a boat ride to Mumbo Island. Eco – friendly and barely touched, you can kayak, bird watch and relax on your private balcony.
The Victoria Falls Hotel is a grand Edwardian-era hotel that was built in the early 1900 ’s, during the time when Cecil Rhodes famously attempted to link Cape Town to Cairo by rail. A ten-minute stroll, via a private footpath, leads to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World: the Victoria Falls. The hotel is surrounded by carefully tended tropical gardens, lily ponds and century-old shade trees.
The guestrooms, including deluxe suites with views of the Zambezi River, gorges and spray from the Falls, are traditional in style. The panoramas also figure prominently during afternoon tea, which is served on Stanley Terrace, overlooking the Victoria Falls Bridge that links Zimbabwe to Zambia.
Potato Bush is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River with stunning views over the river and escarpment. The camp’s tents are spaced out along the river, with panoramic views within the heart of the national park.
The family tent has a huge central living, dining and balcony area which divides the two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, twin showers, twin basins and bathtubs with views. It also has a large plunge pool, fully stocked bar and fridge and private dining table, perfect for families, or any party of four adults.
Potato Bush has two game viewing vehicles and two boats and offers guided day and night game drives, boating, canoeing and catch and release fishing.
Robin’s House is a small, private and exclusive house on the banks of the Luangwa River, ideal for young families or friends seeking a more indulgent type of safari. This two bedroom house with main living area provides a shady and cool retreat from the African midday heat and if that is not enough there is a stunning plunge pool to soak in whilst looking over the Luangwa River.
The South Luangwa National Park marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, one of the last remaining unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa – a claim which is not an overstatement.
With its own team of staff dedicated to looking after you Robin’s House offers a home away from home but with added luxuries.
The Blue Zebra Island Lodge is situated in the Lake Malawi National Park on Nankoma Island, which forms part of the Marelli Island Archipelago, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site (whc.unesco.org). The three islands are home to a vast array of freshwater fish, including some of the rarest and most colourful in the world. The islands support diverse flora and fauna and are a bird watchers paradise.
Guests are free to chill at the infinity pool, kayak around the islands or enjoy a game of volleyball as part of the full board package. The lodge also offers free use of snorkelling equipment to view the unique colourful fish that inhabit every inch of the coastline. The more adventurous can take advantage of other water sports including wakeboarding, skiing and SCUBA diving.
Mumbo Island Camp is located within an exclusive concession area, guaranteeing privacy and offering guests the chance to rejuvenate and unwind in surroundings that resemble a tropical island paradise. The camp is constructed entirely of timber, thatch and canvas, and adheres to the strictest principles of eco-architecture. The camp has six large safari tents which are fully furnished and have their own shady viewing deck and a private hammock.
Unlike most other island destinations in the region, Mumbo Island has never been populated and is still in its natural state. This, together with the focus on non-motorised watersports, makes Mumbo Island ideal for active outdoor enthusiasts.
End of the tour… We will transfer you to Lilongwe International Airport for your onward journey.
