From the Zambian bush to the beaches of Malawi

Embark on an incredible two-week trip to Zambia and Malawi. Combining three of Zambia’s top destinations; Livingstone (Victoria Falls), the Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa with the stunning Lake Malawi.

The adventure kicks off with two-nights at Nguni, Livingstone. Here you will have the opportunity to discover the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. Maybe, you will take to the skies and see the falls from above or bungee and see the falls from a unique angle! After this you will head to the bush. Firstly, the Lower Zambia National Park, where you will stay at Baines River Camp. The camp offers a wide variety of land and water based activities. Then onto South Luangwa National Park, where you will spend five nights. Two nights at Flat Dogs and three at Nkonzi.

Following eight nights in the bush it is time to enjoy the beaches of Lake Malawi. First stop, Kumbali Lake Retreat. Here you can relax in complete comfort on the beautiful shores of the lake. After two nights at Kumbali Lake Retreat, we head two hours further south to Cape Maclear where you will stay on Domwe Island. A true back to nature experience!

Itinerary

Day 1 - 3

Nguni, Livingstone

Nguni is the perfect place from which to base yourself and explore the majestic Victoria Falls and nearby Zambezi National Park. 

The lodge has 14 rooms, 6 of which are Delux pool view rooms, 7 are Standard garden view rooms and there is 1 Family room which also overlooks the garden. Nguni Lodge also includes a year-round outdoor pool. Guests can enjoy a sun terrace and a restaurant on site.

Day 3 - 6

Baines, Lower Zambezi

You will find Baines’ River Camp in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi Valley, an authentic safari area where fences and tarred roads do not exist. With Africa’s fourth largest river on our doorstep, land and water-based game viewing activities on offer, exquisite accommodation, breath-taking sunsets, a passionate team to look after you and the gentle safari style that is so typical to Zambia, Baines’ River Camp is the right choice for your stay in the African bush with as many first-world comforts as possible.

The main lodge area is the heart of the camp, where all guests gather for meals, pre-dinner drinks, stories, a swim or a quiet read of one of the many books from their library.

Day 6 - 8

On the banks of the Luangwa with the best views in camp, Flatdogs have positioned six of their luxury en-suite safari tents for the best Zambia tented safaris. The Africa safari tent experience is one you will never forget. These tents are spacious enough for full-sized beds, hanging rack for clothes, bedside tables and lamps.

Day 8 - 11

Nkonzi, South Luangwa

Nkonzi Camp is located deep in the heart of South Luangwa National Park. From the moment you walk out of your tent, you are on safari in one of Africa’s finest wildlife destinations. Nkonzi Camp is surrounded by pristine grassy plains and ancient forests. This is one of the least known but most rewarding game viewing areas in the South Luangwa.

Here you will experience the romance of a safari under canvas, enjoy expert safari guiding and get so far off the beaten track you’ll feel like you have the South Luangwa all to yourself.

Day 11 - 13

Kumbali Lake Retreat, Lake Malawi

Kumbali Lake Retreat is an eco-friendly lodge on the beautiful shores of Lake Malawi. Owned and run by the same family who owns Kumbali Country Lodge, Kumbali Lake Retreat comes with the same familiar “home away from home” feel with comfort and nature as the main focus.

Day 13 - 14

Domwe, Lake Malawi

Domwe Island is the largest unpopulated island in Lake Malawi, with a circumference of 11km and the highest point 400m above lake level. It is separated from the mainland by the narrow Ilala Gap which, due to fluctuations in lake level over the millennia, has been dry on several occasions.

As a result, Domwe Island, unlike all other Lake Malawi islands, is well populated with mammals which have crossed onto the island during these dry times.

Domwe Island is part of the Lake Malawi National Park.

Day 14

Homeward bound

It is time to return to your home. We will drive you back to Lilongwe International Airport for your connecting flight.
