Introducing March Madness, a 20 night border crossing exploration. In this epic trip, you will visit 4 countries; South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Malawi. The trip will run from March 1st to 21th March. This means you will benefit from Green Season prices, there really is no better time to go on this incredible tour.

The adventure begins in South Africa, where you will spend 4 nights at 12 Apostles hotel in Cape Town. Whilst in Cape Town you will have the freedom to discover this international city. Cape Town has so many incredible things to see and do including Table Mountain, Boulders Beach, Robben Island and V & A Waterfront.

Day 5 takes you to Botswana. You will spend two nights in the Kalahari and two nights in the Okavango Delta. The ever-changing desert landscape of the Kalahari gives refuge to the Kalahari lion, springbok, Oryx and brown hyena. The Okavango Delta supports 164 mammalian species, 157 species of reptiles and 540 species of bird. If you are a wildlife enthusiast you will love this leg of the trip.

From Botswana to Zambia. Your Zambia adventure begins in Livingstone where you will stay near the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. During this stay you will get the chance to witness the falls in all their might and partake in various activities. Following 3 nights in Livingstone you will fly to South Luangwa and spend another 3 nights in the bush. South Luangwa is a wildlife sanctuary and provides a different safari experiences to the two Botswana parks.

That’s 3 countries, one more to go! The final country on this amazing voyage is the Warm Heart of Africa, Malawi. Your time in Malawi will begin in the bush at Liwonde National Park where you will get to embark on magnificent river safaris. The adventure finishes with 3 nights on Mumbo island, a remote island on Lake Malawi.

Itinerary

Day 1 - 5

12 Apostles, Cape Town

The luxurious Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is built in the shadow of the awesome Twelve Apostles that extends down the Cape from Table Mountain.

Just a few minutes from Camps Bay it enjoys one of the world’s most beautiful settings and boasts uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean, you may even spot a few whales.

During the day (between 8:00 am-9:30 pm) the hotel provides complimentary transfers into Camps Bay or the V&A Waterfront or you can relax and enjoy the resorts two gorgeous swimming pools, sipping a cocktail from the bar and revelling in your location.

Day 5 - 7

Dinaka, Kalahari

Dinaka Safari Lodge is an intimate Botswana luxury safari lodge perched on the northern boundary of Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Travel to a wild world where a colourful array of birds, herds of graceful antelope, and Kalahari black-maned lions roam.

Feel lost in the second largest wildlife reserve in the world. An exclusive private reserve hugging the northern edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Dinaka Safari Lodge is host to classic Kalahari predators and plains game.

Dinaka Safari Lodge is a 16-bed camp, offering the comforts of home while deep in the bush of Botswana. 

Day 7 - 9

Shinde, Okavango Delta

Shinde Camp in Botswana is nestled on a lush palm-dotted island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. Located at the edge of a lagoon, this luxury tented safari camp is surrounded by clear waterways and past palm-fringed islands teeming with birdlife and game.

Each tent is strategically positioned to offer splendid views, whether across the Okavango Delta’s mysterious waterways or open grasslands.

Shinde Camp offers a diverse range of activities, courtesy of its location which affords both water and land activities year round. Motorboats or Mekoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta.

 

Day 9 - 12

Tongabezi, Livingstone

Zambia’s Tongabezi Lodge is an exclusive lodge located on the banks of the Zambezi River, 15km upstream from the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Tongabezi is set in a grove of African ebony trees on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River. The setting is phenomenal and provides guests with the perfect escape from the business of Livingstone town itself.

The lodge also has a wealth of different activities on offer, all included in the price. Canoeing, island lunches, floating river meals, visits to the Mukuni Park, sunrise and sunset boating, guided bush walks, fishing trips on the Zambezi and guided tours of Livingstone and Victoria Falls itself.

Day 12 - 15

Kakuli, South Luangwa

Perched high above the Luangwa River, Kakuli Camp offers impressive vistas of the river’s many visitors below. Designed to celebrate the panoramic scenery, a stay at Kakuli is a truly awe-inspiring experience. 

The area is renowned for some of the best game viewing opportunities in Zambia with resident prides of lion, leopards and other hidden wonders. This is one of the best camps in the South Luangwa for viewing the immensely beautiful and iconic carmine bee-eaters.

The camp overlooks several pods of hippos which, as the weather warms during the season and the river levels drop, become more and more vocal.

Day 15 - 18

Mvuu Lodge, Liwonde

Mvuu Lodge offers a luxurious stay and an intimate getaway in a secluded wilderness setting. The lodge overlooks a tranquil lagoon that is located just off the Shire River, in an area that is surrounded by lush vegetation and towering Borassus palms.

Accommodation at the lodge comprises eight beautifully-appointed stone and thatch tents, one of which is a romantic honeymoon suite. Each tent has en-suite facilities and a private deck, which overlooks the water’s edge. 

Liwonde National Park is one of Malawi’s premier wildlife destinations and is home to an abundance of flora and fauna. Sightings of elephant, hippo, crocodile, sable antelope and zebra are common in the park.

Day 18 - 20

Mumbo Island, Lake Malawi

Mumbo Island is a pristine and deserted tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park.

With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colourful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the National Park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkelling and SCUBA diving in the world.

Mumbo Island is only 1km in diameter and has never been populated so it remains in a pristine, natural state. Kayak Africa run Mumbo as an entirely off-grid, green camp so that it remains as unspoilt and perfect as it has been forever.

Day 21

Homeward bound

End of the itinerary. We will transfer you to Lilongwe International Airport for your onward journey.
