Embark on a 10-night journey across Zambia & Malawi combining some of the most remote romantic places in Africa. Get back to basics in the bush camping in the middle of South Luangwa National Park.
Experience the romance of safari under canvas, stay in walk in tents on a dry riverbed enjoy immersing yourself into the sounds and sights of the bush secluded amongst the Jackalberry trees. Spend your days tracking the incredible wildlife such as the numerous leopards and the famous ginger lions before spending your evenings dining under the stars.
After the excitement of the bush head across the border to Malawi where you will spend 6 incredible nights at Lake Malawi. First head to Kumbali Lake retreat for some shore side activities before heading to your very own island paradise.
Relax on the white sandy beaches of Mumbo Island where you can snorkel in crystal clear waters and enjoy sundowners from your private chalet overlooking the lake.
Upon arrival in Lilongwe your guide will transfer you to Kumbali Lodge, a beautiful setting on the outskirts of Lilongwe. Here you can relax and unwind and enjoy your evening with a sundowner, or two, before heading to South Luangwa the following day.
Kumbali is more than a hotel. In their 650-hectare forest reserve farm, you will find pleasant walks, beautiful scenery, rare birds and wildlife and there is a Cultural Village and Permaculture Centre to see.
After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road and head to South Luangwa National Park. Your guide will transfer you to Nkonzi which is approximately 5 hours from Lilongwe. During your time at Nkonzi, you will spend your days enjoying the bush.
Each day you will get the opportunity to enjoy two safari activities, you can choose a game drive or walking safari, on whichever activity you choose you will be accompanied by one of Nkonzi’s highly knowledgeable guides providing a fantastic opportunity to learn lots about South Luangwa’s amazing wildlife.
Following 4 nights in the bush it’s time to visit Lake Malawi, first stop Kumbali Lake Retreat. Kumbali Lake Retreat is a new eco-friendly lodge on the beautiful shores of Lake Malawi.
Owned and run by the same family who owns Kumbali Country Lodge, the lake retreat comes with the same familiar ‘home away from home’ feel with comfort and nature at the main focus.
After a good night sleep and a delicious breakfast it is time to head to Mumbo Island. Your guide will transfer you to Cape Maclear, which is about a 1-2hr drive, in time for your afternoon boat transfer to the island.
Mumbo is based 10km off the Cape Maclear peninsula and takes 45 minutes by boat, if you are feeling like an athlete feel free to kayak out to the island, which should take about 2hrs.
Enjoy the next 3 days in paradise, make the most of the incredible snorkelling, crystal clear waters, fascinating birdlife, diverse flora and fauna, semi-challenging walks and stunning sunsets. Make sure to hike up to Pod Rock for a sundowner.
Early start and boat transfer back to Cape Maclear. Your guide will meet you in Cape Maclear and drive you back to Lilongwe International Airport.
