Shumba

Shumba is a luxurious and spacious camp with a very ‘African bush’ feel, it is situated in the very heart of the gorgeous Busanga Plains. You can enjoy views of the stunning floodplains throughout the camp. The lodge is built off the ground and well spread out, it blends in beautifully with its surroundings and you will often see wildlife around the lodge during the days. The lounge area is very comfortable and the campfire a great focal point. Sit around the open fire on the sunken deck with a drink of your choice and enjoy the sounds of the wild for miles around.

Why we love Shumba!

You are right in the wilderness when staying here, a far more remote location than some camps and lodges, you get a sense that there is no one around for miles. The pool looking over the open flood plains was a favourite spot to relax and enjoy the afternoons. Great food and exceptional guides – definitely a favourite.

Client Reviews

  • Shumba Camp on Busanga Plains rocks!

have traveled extensively across Africa and have stayed in 20+ camps and can say that Wilderness does an outstanding job. Their people are well trained, their locations are exceptional, their camps are the best, and the food is always great.
We loved our guide Isaac – he’s now part of our family!
The hot air balloon experience is so special we did it twice.

  • Safari at it’s best

We visited Busanga Bush Camp and Shumba with breathtaking views over the plains but from a different perspective. Shuma is elevated above the plains with 6 luxury spacious tents and excellent and friendly staff to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Both camps offer different experiences which make your safari feeling as complete as possible.

  • Truly Incredible

Shumba camp was simply incredible. From the moment we arrived and greeted by all the stuff with hot towels you could tell this was going to be a surreal place. All the staff knew our names and treated us like one of them. Fred the barman always made us laugh and the likes of Chrispin, Charles, tsekai, Isaac were always very cheerful and delightful to be around providing incredible service.
