Walking Safaris
Although not the first activity you would think of in the Lower Zambezi, the walking safaris at Time + Tide Chongwe are especially good. Adventure through the north at the foothills of the escarpment near the waterfalls to try and find the rarely seen Samango or Blue Monkeys, Klipspringers and Bush pigs.
Wildlife
The camps location is famous for its abundance of wildlife, which means you don’t actually have to leave camp to be in the middle of the action. From the herds of elephants who visit the river and floodplain to the high numbers of wild dog in the area, the park has no fences and the animals know no boundaries! If you do want more time in the park you can easily arrange for your excellent guide to take you on a full day excursion with a delicious packed lunch where you can spend endless hours tracking down the wildlife to your hearts content!
The Tents
Time + Tide Chongwe Camp tents are charming, with local textiles and furniture which has been hand crafted, everything has been beautifully thought out and blends in perfectly with the scenery. Each tent offers panoramic views along the river, sit out on your private deck and watch as the wildlife visit the banks.
Client Reviews
- The most authentic staff I’ve encountered during my travels in AfricaI don’t even know where to begin to describe my experience at Time + Tide Chongwe Camp. The food was amazing. The room had everything you could need (and more!). Visions of doing yoga while on safari? They provide a yoga mat in each tent. Fancy a swim? They have a pool. Want to read up on the animals you just saw during your game drive? They have a nice collection of books on everything Africa.Suzanne R
- Absolutely Stunning Camp and Location!Greetings to George, Watson, Samson, Chef Michael, Flossie and everyone at Change River Camp. We couldn’t believe the suite we booked with our friends, two separate “tents” with outdoor bathrooms, and a common living, dining, swimming pool and fire pit, where Chef Michael cooked our breakfasts, and Watson took care of us for our four day stay.GGirl4173
- AmazingAccommodations, staff, food and safari’s were fantastic. The pictures don’t do it justice. We stayed for 3 days and did not want to leave. Every time we came back from a safari staff was waiting to greet us. What a great experience and great way to start our vacation!Barbara H
