Toka Leya Camp

Toka Leya is a perfect high-end choice at the falls, the luxury style tented accommodation fits in perfectly from a safari trip and reminds you of the surrounding nature in the national park. With just a small number of huge tents, it is hard to leave the comfort of your own room. Of course, with the incredible food and activities on offer, you will manage to head on out to the river the lodge overlooks and see either the beautiful falls or the wildlife on the river banks!

The main deck itself overlooks some of the rapids along the river and when the river is full it stands over the water it also houses the famous pizza oven! With a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the Zambezi, it is the perfect spot to relax. Enjoy your stunning surroundings and cool off during the heat of the day with a cold drink.

Why we love Toka Leya!

Just wow an incredible camp, each room has everything you can imagine from a sunken couch on your viewing deck, to the outside bathtub! The staff here are incredibly attentive and it’s difficult not to love them! The activities superseded my expectations and meeting the rhinos in the national park is simply something you can’t miss!

Lodge Key Features

Family focus

The lodge has several interconnecting rooms perfect for families. With the pool and pizza oven and the many activities at the Falls it is a great place to bring all the family. As there aren’t any predators in the national park it is also relatively safe for children. However elephants and buffalo are around so parents must be vigilant especially at night when crocs and hippos are around the river.

Luxury

With the rare luxury of AC in the rooms, the infinity pool, bar and spa there are lots of ways to cool and relax. Alternatively, heat things up by visiting the gym or the evening fire pit where you can swap stories of the days adventure. Each spacious tent has an indoor and outdoor shower so you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding nature. With sumptuous high teas and three course dinners you may wish to have more active activities in the day. However we would highly recommend making the most of a sundowner on the river for a peaceful end to your day!

Super staff

The staff here, are first class, with attentive waiters, excellent guides and perfect hosts. With a huge emphasis on conservation and giving back, Wilderness Safaris, who run Toka Leya, have several initiatives to help give back; from their Children in the Wilderness charity- helping educated children in conservation areas to pack for a purpose- and their greenhouse and nursery that provides an effective recycling program giving surplus trees to the park to plant. Each member of staff is involved in the projects which gives a real sense of family at the lodge as well as encouraging guest involvement through tours.

Client Reviews

  • Nothing beats an African sunset .. especially over the Zambezi

From the minute our little tender boat picked us up and delivered us to the banks of Toka Leya Camp we knew we were in for a treat. After a sumptuous lunch listening to the grunts of the hippos up stream we headed out to view the wildlife coming down in the late afternoon sun from the arrival tender boat this time laden with gin and tonics, wine, and every other sundowner imaginable. Here we dined on African snacks, and drink in hand watched the sun sink beneath the horizon in the most spectacular display imaginable.

  • Great Staff, Food, Activities.

The staff is very helpful — eager to help. And they were very accommodating to our interests and schedule. Right on the river, we had 2 hippos strolling just below our terrace. The national park, where the lodge is situated, is not large, so if you’re expecting vast spaces full of herds of animals, this is not the place. That said, we saw many hippos (the Zambezi is full of them) elephants, giraffes, crocodiles and warthogs.

  • Our Happy Place in Southern Africa

Our stay at Toka Leya was the highlight of our four weeks in Southern Africa. We were tired after a fabulous ten day safari through Botswana and Toka Leya hospitality was just what we needed. From the warm welcome we received on arrival to the fond farewell on our departure, we felt totally at home. The staff were all excellent and their service genuine and friendly.
