Would you like to stay at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma?
Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma
The newly refurbished Sussi & Chuma Lodge is just a few km away from the falls, offering fantastic sunset views over the river. Accommodation is in rustic tree house styled chalets which are tucked into the giant ebony trees, connected by wooden walkways. There are many nooks at the lodge, providing lots of space for guests to seek some silence and solitude, therefore, even when it’s full you garner a sense of wilderness! In addition to the normal falls activities, there is a huge range of activities at Sussi & Chuma, including canoeing along the river, sundowner cruise and drives in the park. It is the perfect place to stay if you want to relax as well as embrace everything the falls and the Zambezi River has to offer.
Why we love Sussi & Chuma!
The whole place is modern yet fits perfectly into the bush, the food and staff are excellent and you feel as if you could be in the Maldives not Livingstone! The safari activities were top notch it is a great combination with their other safari properties!

Rooms
The novel treehouses are airy and spacious with beautiful en-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers and a free standing bathtub. Each room is tastefully decorated and even has gym bags and yoga mats for those who wish to be a little more active on holiday. Each room has AC and its own viewing deck, where you can relax in the forest overlooking the river. There are two private houses further along the river, perfect for families with two en-suite rooms, a dining area, a lounge and plunge pool. A private house comes with your own staff and vehicle which allows you to dictate your schedule.
Family
With no age limit and private houses it is the perfect place to take the whole family and have a bit of privacy if you opt for a private house. From story telling around the fire to nature walks, the kids have a whole host of personalised activities as well as a range of amenities on site such as the pool and the explorers lounge. And if mum wants a break they have a rather nice spa!
Activities
There is an extensive range of included activities at Sussi and Chuma from the excellent river canoeing to safari drives in the park, where you can try and spot some of the only rhinos in Zambia. You can visit the falls, go on sundowner cruises, fishing trips and cultural experiences. They also have a very good team at hand to organise anything that isn’t included that you would like to add to your stay. Activities make a trip to the falls memorable, so, we highly recommend trying some if not all of the amazing activities.
Client Reviews
- AnnW2747Just returned from 3 wonderful days at this magnificent place. Beautiful sunsets, river cruises, canoeing, swimming in pool overlooking the river and walking with rhinos – a magnificent experience – and of course the Vic Falls just a few kms away. We had the best guide on our trip – Shadrack – who took us on every excursion and looked after us. The staff are welcoming
and friendly, the rooms are built on treetops, expansive and had a balcony overlooking the river.Fantastic lodge on the Zambezi River - The beautiful Sussi LodgeHad the best time. We canoed, did a boat trip, lazed by the pool, drank delicious
cocktails, swam, canoed a bit more, ate fantastic food, and of course, saw the incredible Victoria Falls.
Loved every part. Service was superb, lunch on the grass by Chuma house was special, the sunsets were incredible and our guides were BRILLIANT.Sandi C - Fairytale on the ZambeziLike the other Sanctuary properties we have stayed at, Sussi & Chuma is very well run and attractively appointed. You will probably come to see Vic Falls. The Falls were fun but the high point of Sussi & Chuma is its location at the edge of the Zambezi. Two exceptional experiences: he trip to the head waters of the falls in one of the lodge’s small boats. We saw hippos, giraffes, and many birds. Particular fun was running the rapids at sunset heading back to the lodge.Scott L
