The Royal Chundu is a hidden gem situated along the banks of the Zambezi River and has two locations, River Lodge and Island Lodge. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with a loved one then either Lodge is the perfect spot. With the iconic Victoria Falls downstream and other exciting activities and adventure around, there is a lot to enjoy when staying at the Royal Chundu. Both locations boast magnificent views over the river. The Lodges are charming and serene and offer an unforgettable luxurious Safari experience.
The Royal Chundu is in a stunning location with so much to enjoy and do, helicopter rides and fishing right in front of camp. The rooms are exceptional with a beautiful brass bath that overlooks the lagoon. The food was outstanding too and the whole experience one to remember – I felt right at home here.

The Royal Chundu has not one, but two Lodges, River Lodge and Island Lodge. River Lodge is the larger of the two with ten suites. The Rooms are private and situated right on the riverfront and you can enjoy the spectacular views across the Zambezi form your very own balcony. The rooms’ furnishings fit in beautifully with the natural surroundings, they are spacious and comfortable and you feel right at home.
Island Lodge has 4 villas and offers a more exclusive experience and is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway. You arrive on the island by boat and you immediately get a sense of privacy and peacefulness. Each room has its own private deck which overlooks the river. The bathtub sits right on the deck, relax and unwind with a glass of bubbles and enjoy the breath-taking views.
The Royal Chundu has something for everyone at either of their locations. Enjoy a River Safari whilst taking in the wildlife and beautiful surroundings. Experience an exciting helicopter flight above the Falls or find your adventurous side with a canoe trip down the River. There is an abundance of activities to enjoy at The Royal Chundu or around the area. For those who wish to enjoy something far more relaxing there is a spa, relish in a treatment with the serenity of the Zambezi River as your backdrop.
The cuisine at The Royal Chundu is outstanding, they are creative with their dishes and infuse a lot of Zambian flavours into the food. The Chef has created a mouth-watering menu and uses local ingredients from the land around them. Freshly sourced from farms within a 3km radius of the Lodge, it is great to see them supporting their local community. Dining here is an experience on its own, with delicious food and beautiful views. Not only can you enjoy traditional evenings with local dancers and drumming as entertainment, but you can enjoy private dining in the comfort of your very own suite or even organise a picnic for two (weather permitting of course). They think of everything and ensure your dining experiences will be one to remember.
